Hector Monsegur, also known by his online alias "Sabu," is a former member of the hacking collectives LulzSec and Anonymous. He was one of the most prominent figures in the hacking community, leading high-profile cyber attacks on government and corporate websites.
In June 2011, Monsegur was arrested by the FBI and charged with multiple counts of computer hacking. Facing a lengthy prison sentence, he agreed to cooperate with authorities and became an informant, providing information on other hackers and their activities.
As a result of his cooperation, Monsegur's sentencing was reduced, and he was released from prison in 2014. Since then, he has worked as a consultant and speaker on cybersecurity issues, using his expertise to help organizations improve their online security.
Despite his controversial past, Monsegur is considered a reformed hacker who now uses his knowledge for positive purposes, helping to defend against cyber threats rather than perpetrating them.
